This work sums up the many and various works of two men who appear prominently (at least to my mind) within its pages; that of Robert Alter and Jan Fokkelman. Each chapter provides an overview of the literary analysis of each OT Book. While these chapters are limited in scope due to obvious length restrictions, the main points of each literary "fingerprint" of the varied Books are covered well. Through structure analysis and rhetorical strategy, the authors of each article covers themes with but a light gloss of exegesis. It is an important work to getting at the heart of fundamental aspects of HOW the Bible was written. This particular book is a must on every bookshelf for those interested in the literary structure of Scripture.
